2026 Fantasy Football Draft Strategy From Pick 7: 10-Team PPR

Pick 7 is where the draft starts feeling more like a mini-turn.

After 1.07, I'm back at 2.04.

That lets me start thinking about combinations rather than one isolated pick at a time.

1.07: Amon-Ra St. Brown

I'm taking Amon-Ra St. Brown.

The offensive coordinator changed, but I'm not treating that like an automatic downgrade.

Drew Petzing is taking over Detroit after three seasons coordinating Arizona.

His job isn't to arrive and prove he's smarter than everything Detroit already does well.

His job is to keep the stars productive.

Amon-Ra's role is already one of the most dependable in football.

That's what I want as my WR1.

2.04 / 3.07: RB Is the Tiebreaker

Targets:

Amon-Ra already gives me target stability.

So if Breece and Nico are close, I'll lean Breece.

That doesn't mean I pass on a major WR fall.

A.J. Brown + Mike Vrabel

This is an actual reunion.

Vrabel was Brown's head coach during Brown's first three NFL seasons in Tennessee.

I like reunions because the coach isn't guessing about the player.

Vrabel already knows what Brown is like in the building, what he can handle and how he wins.

If I have Bowers, Allen becomes less appealing.

Jameson Williams + Petzing

I like Jamo because his role doesn't duplicate Amon-Ra.

Amon-Ra dominates underneath and through intermediate volume.

Jamo changes the geometry of the field.

He forces safeties to respect vertical speed.

That gives Petzing two completely different receiving weapons.

I can even draft both Lions WRs if the value is right because I'm not betting on them fighting for the same exact targets.

8.04 / 9.07: LaPorta Gets Interesting

LaPorta + Drew Petzing

This is the coach-history angle that really matters.

Petzing's 2025 Arizona offense produced a record-setting Trey McBride year:

126 receptions

1,239 yards

11 touchdowns

LaPorta is not Trey McBride.

But both can be used as receiving weapons rather than only traditional blocking tight ends.

Petzing has already shown that he will build passing volume through that kind of TE.

If LaPorta falls, I am buying.

But I still refuse to take a quarterback solely because the roster screen has an empty QB slot.

If I have no TE, I can solve it.

If I already have TE, keep building RB/WR depth.

Round 14: Pick 134: Late QB Is Still Alive

If I have waited this long, I like:

• Kyler Murray • Tyler Shough • Jared Goff • Baker Mayfield

Goff is especially interesting in this build.

If I already have Amon-Ra, the stack is a bonus, not the reason I draft him.

The reason is that Detroit is keeping its core offense intact around a veteran QB, and I can get that quarterback at almost no opportunity cost.

Round 15: Kicker

My board:

Why wait?

Because kicker has a low replacement cost.

If Aubrey has a bad matchup or gets hurt, there will be another usable kicker available.

That's completely different from a breakout RB.

A breakout RB might become a top-50 player and disappear from waivers for the entire season.

That's why my Round 12-14 picks go toward skill players.

At Round 15, take the best kicker remaining.

Round 16: Defense

Week 1 options:

• Chargers vs. Cardinals • Jaguars vs. Browns • Steelers vs. Falcons • Cowboys at Giants • Seahawks vs. Patriots • Titans vs. Jets

I am drafting for one game.

That's it.

The weekly checklist after that:

• Who is starting at QB for the opponent? • Is the offensive line injured? • Is the opponent allowing sacks? • Is the game likely to stay low scoring? • Is there turnover upside?

If another defense has a better Week 2 situation, switch.

Streaming D/ST lets me spend every meaningful draft pick on positions where long-term scarcity actually exists.
