2026 Fantasy Football Draft Strategy From Pick 6: 10-Team PPR

Christian McCaffrey changes my roster construction a little.

The upside is still massive.

But because he's 30 and already has a significant injury history, I don't want to draft him and then act like RB is solved for the next 12 rounds.

The goal is to get the elite ceiling while building enough legitimate RB depth behind him.

1.06: Christian McCaffrey

I'm taking Christian McCaffrey.

In 2025 he had:

311 carries

1,202 rushing yards

10 rushing touchdowns

and somehow also:

102 receptions

924 receiving yards

7 receiving touchdowns

That's 413 touches.

Kyle Shanahan is still willing to make CMC the center of the offense.

The upside isn't theoretical.

The risk is durability, not role.

That difference matters.

2.05 / 3.06: I Prefer Another RB, But I Won't Force It

Targets:

• Rashee Rice • Saquon Barkley • Derrick Henry • Chase Brown • Kenneth Walker III • Breece Hall • Brock Bowers • Nico Collins • Chris Olave

If an RB and WR are equal on my board, RB gets the tiebreaker.

I want another back who can start even while CMC is healthy.

Chris Olave + Kellen Moore

Olave had 100 catches for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns last season in Moore's offense.

Same player.

Same coach.

Same offense.

That's the cleanest type of fantasy projection.

Ladd + Mike McDaniel

This is a great profile/scheme fit.

Ladd wins through separation and route detail.

McDaniel's offense tries to create leverage with motion and spacing.

Pair that with Justin Herbert's arm and I like the ceiling.

At this point, I want at least three legitimate RB options on the roster if the board allows it.

Not because I'm predicting CMC gets hurt.

Because running-back attrition happens every year.

Again, falling value beats positional planning.

10.05 / 11.06: Add RB Paths, Not Dead Bench Spots

TE:

• George Kittle • Dallas Goedert

QB:

George Kittle

Kittle's Achilles recovery is exactly why I don't want to draft him early.

But price changes everything.

We already know Shanahan's offense can produce elite Kittle stretches.

If the injury uncertainty pushes him into this part of the draft, now the reward starts outweighing the cost.

If Kittle isn't ready immediately, I can pair him with a late TE rather than sacrificing an early pick.

12.05 / 13.06

• Isaiah Likely • Dalton Kincaid • Jake Ferguson • Jordan Mason • Blake Corum • Makai Lemon • KC Concepcion • Juwan Johnson

This is also where I can double up at TE if I drafted an injured Kittle.

Round 14: Pick 135

I'm looking for upside:

• Chris Rodriguez Jr. • De'Zhaun Stribling • Denzel Boston • Juwan Johnson • Keenan Allen • Dolphins pass catchers • Raiders pass catchers

C-Rod is especially attractive because Liam Coen already coached him at Kentucky and knows his downhill skill set.

Round 15: Kicker

My preferred group:

• Brandon Aubrey • Cameron Dicker • Harrison Mevis • Ka'imi Fairbairn • Will Reichard

With a CMC build, I'm even more opposed to drafting kicker early.

I want every bench pick I can get for RB depth.

Round 15 is when the opportunity cost finally becomes small enough.

Aubrey is my first choice.

Dicker is right behind him.

If they're gone, choose the best remaining name from the tier.

Do not chase a kicker run.

Round 16: Defense

My preferred opening matchups:

• Chargers vs. Cardinals • Jaguars vs. Browns • Steelers vs. Falcons • Cowboys at Giants • Seahawks vs. Patriots • Titans vs. Jets

My rule is simple:

Week 1 matchup first. Season-long reputation second.

If a defense has a difficult Week 2, I'll replace them.

That approach also keeps me from burning Round 12 or 13 on a defense when I could have drafted an RB whose role changes after one injury.
