Week 3 RB Waiver Wire: Jonah Coleman Is the Priority Add

Jonah Coleman has a path to immediate touches after injuries to J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey. He's the headline name in the Week 3 running back waiver pool.

Running back waivers are usually about chasing opportunity before everyone else sees it.

That makes Jonah Coleman the headline name entering Week 3.

Denver entered Sunday without RJ Harvey because of a hamstring injury. Then J.K. Dobbins suffered a hamstring injury of his own and missed the fourth quarter. Coleman stepped into the opening and finished with 10 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown plus three catches for 19 yards.

At just 22% rostered in ESPN leagues, he should be one of the first names fantasy managers check.

1. Jonah Coleman — Broncos (22%)

Coleman isn't simply an injury handcuff anymore.

The rookie was trusted with important fourth-quarter work against Jacksonville, scored the go-ahead touchdown and helped Denver close the game on the ground.

The immediate ceiling depends on Dobbins and Harvey.

If Dobbins misses Week 3, Coleman has a realistic path to early-down and goal-line work. If both veterans are unavailable, Coleman could walk into a startable fantasy workload immediately.

Even if one or both return, Week 2 gave Denver a reason to keep Coleman involved.

Priority: Very high

2. Tyjae Spears — Titans (49%)

Spears is one of the better adds for managers thinking beyond a single week.

Tony Pollard remains Tennessee's lead back, but Spears played 37% of the offensive snaps in Week 2 and produced 70 scrimmage yards on only nine opportunities.

That efficiency won't always hold, but Spears has receiving ability and a clear path to a larger role if Tennessee decides it needs more explosiveness.

He also carries obvious contingent value if Pollard misses time.

Priority: Medium-high

3. Brian Robinson — Falcons (23%)

Robinson is primarily a stash.

Bijan Robinson remains the centerpiece of Atlanta's backfield, so Brian Robinson doesn't have enough standalone volume to trust in a normal fantasy lineup.

But he's already accumulated 20 carries through two games and would become immediately interesting if Bijan were unavailable.

In leagues with deeper benches, that's exactly the type of running back worth rostering before an injury rather than fighting for him afterward.

Priority: Medium as a handcuff

4. Kaleb Johnson — Packers (3%)

Green Bay's backfield is messy enough that Johnson belongs on the radar.

Chris Brooks has played significant snaps, MarShawn Lloyd has produced fantasy points, and Johnson led the group in carries in Week 2.

There isn't a trustworthy starter here yet. That's also the reason Johnson is interesting.

When a backfield has no established winner, cheap exposure to a talented runner can pay off quickly if the rotation changes.

Priority: Deep stash

5. Emanuel Wilson — Seahawks (0%)

Wilson's Week 2 opportunity came after Jadarian Price left with a chest injury.

Wilson responded with 21 carries for 92 yards.

His value is directly tied to Price's status, so this is an injury-report add rather than someone fantasy managers should automatically start. But any back who just handled 21 carries deserves attention when he's essentially universally available.

Priority: Monitor Price; add in deeper leagues

How aggressive should you be on Coleman?

Coleman is the one back in this group worth prioritizing aggressively because there are multiple paths to value.

He could become Denver's Week 3 starter because of injuries. He could earn a larger committee role after playing well. And he now has a clearer path to touches if another injury occurs later in the season.

Spears is the safer secondary stash. Robinson is a premium handcuff. Johnson and Wilson are deeper bets.
