The uncertainty around Miami's backfield is gone. De'Von Achane suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's loss to Kansas City and will miss the rest of the 2026 season.

Ollie Gordon II immediately becomes one of the most important waiver claims of the young season.

Gordon got the first shot

Gordon finished Sunday with 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown while adding three catches for 14 yards. The efficiency was ordinary. The 20 touches were not.

Miami had to adjust on the fly after losing its starter, and Gordon received enough work to show he can be a major part of the replacement plan. Jaylen Wright was inactive with stinger and foot issues, so fantasy managers should still monitor his health.

How aggressive should you be?

Aggressive. Running backs with a plausible path to 15-plus touches rarely appear on waivers after the season starts.

Achane managers should make Gordon their top priority. Managers who do not roster Achane should still bid because the value is not dependent on owning the injured player.

Miami's 0-3 start limits the scoring ceiling, but usable running back volume is difficult to find.

Fantasy takeaway: Achane's season is over. Gordon handled 20 touches in the first game Miami needed him and should be treated as the top Week 4 waiver priority in most leagues.
